Short answer
For healthy adults with no symptoms, no. The American College of Radiology doesn’t recommend whole-body MRI screening, and a 2019 review found about 1 in 3 people get an incidental finding that needs follow-up, with about 16% false positives. Prenuvo starts at $1,199 and Ezra at $999. The exception is a coronary calcium scan, which guidelines do support for some people.
What the evidence says
Whole-body MRI is sold as peace of mind. The problem is what it finds. Kwee and Kwee’s 2019 review of whole-body MRI in healthy adults reported that about 32% had an incidental finding needing attention and about 16% were false positives: things that looked worrying and turned out to be nothing, after more scans, biopsies or worry. The American College of Radiology has said it does not recommend total-body screening MRI for people without symptoms.
What it costs
Prenuvo lists $1,199 for its Core scan, $2,499 for Comprehensive and from $3,999 for Executive, rising to $4,999 in New York. Ezra, now owned by Function Health, lists its MRI at $999, or $899 for Function members. Ezra’s base scan launched at $499 in May 2025 and has doubled since. Ezra’s basic scan also skips the chest, heart and colon.
The scan that is supported
A coronary artery calcium scan is a low-dose CT of the heart arteries, about $349 at Ezra. US guidelines support it for people at intermediate risk who are deciding whether to start a statin. That is a narrow, evidence-backed use, and very different from scanning the whole body looking for anything.

Are there cases where it makes sense?
Some people with specific genetic cancer syndromes have whole-body MRI as part of surveillance, ordered by their specialist. That is a medical decision, not a consumer purchase.
