Do creatine gummies work?

CHECKED 2026-09-30SOURCED

Short answer

Some do, many don’t, and you can’t tell from the label. Creatine breaks down in moist formats, and independent tests keep catching gummies short: in 2024, NOW Foods found 6 of 12 gummy brands missed their label claim, and in June 2025 SuppCo found 2 Amazon gummy brands with no creatine at all. Powder is stable for years. We recommend powder.

Why gummies are the weak spot

Creatine monohydrate is stable as a dry powder for years, but in water-based formats it slowly converts to creatinine, which does nothing for muscle. A gummy is a moist product with a long shelf life, so potency can drift between manufacture and the day you eat it. The 2021 ISSN review notes plainly that creatine is not stable in solution.

What the tests found

NOW Foods ran laboratory tests on 12 creatine gummy brands in 2024. Six missed their label claim, and all six contained measurable creatinine. NOW also reported that it couldn’t find a third-party lab set up to certify gummies at the time. In June 2025, SuppCo tested products bought on Amazon: all five powders passed, but four of six gummies failed, two of them with zero detectable creatine. In April 2026 a class action was filed against Create, a leading gummy brand, alleging under-dosing; Create disputes it and points to its own potency testing and NSF certification.

If you still want a gummy

Look for a brand that publishes a batch-specific potency certificate and holds a third-party certification such as NSF Certified for Sport, then check the certification in the certifier’s own database, not on the brand’s site. Even then, certification checks a sample at a point in time, not the tub at the end of its shelf life. Our creatine guide rates powders first for that reason.

How much creatine should a gummy have?

Trials mostly use 3 to 5 g a day. Check that the serving on the label reaches that, and remember the tests above found labels can be wrong.

Are creatine chews the same as gummies?

Chews are also moist formats, so the same stability question applies. Ask for batch potency data.
